Inner Landscape

These recent paintings are explorations into the mysterious world of the psyche, the inner landscape. This complicated terrain, is an endless amble that satisfies my soul.  My work has always been about the process, usually starting out without any idea of what it will look like or where it will lead, but with the intention of trusting the process, curious to discover where the creative dance will take me.  Of course there are influences which affect what I paint, it could be thoughts or feelings about what's going on in my life, or maybe something I've seen or heard on television, radio or internet, or a book I've been reading....

Trust Your Own Nature

Our fundamental nature is loving and joyful, just look at babies and young children. As long as their fundamental needs are met they are open, curious and delightful. We learn to mistrust this aspect of ourselves and it is this that causes us so many problems in the world.

I hope viewers will feel that aspect of their own nature when they look at this painting, and be able to let it out ... to play, to breathe, to let go of the limiting beliefs and allow joy back into their life.

I started this painting in 2018, just before I tripped over and broke my arm! Clearly something going on around balance for me. The painting has since changed utterly. It is much lighter now and feels balanced in an asymetrical, quirkey kind of way?
