Starting each piece as an abstract I let the painting lead me, I follow the process. Inspiration from all areas of my life feeds into my work, everything is material. This could be words, numbers or personal writings. Or my thoughts about the world of politics; a face, or an object from nature; images from television or the internet. Random elements connecting in a space of my choosing. I strive to create harmony between these disparate elements.
Blackbird SOLD
£0.00
This painting had been started a while ago and had been put to one side. It featured a stylized blackbird plus some other elements but I struggled to resolve it. Then in January I was doing a painting session with my grandson online during the lockdown and decided to have another go at this painting. I had been inspired by Amanda Gorman when she recited one of her poems at Biden's Inauguration. Somehow it was like magic, the face of Amanda Gorman and the blackbird melded perfectly and the painting was resolved.

Three Things
£1,875.00
This painting began with a jug I found in a charity shop, I was thinking about the individual as a container for spirit. Are we spiritual beings having a human experience, rather than being bodies having a spiritual experience?
The mysterious feminine, the moon, expresses my experience of being female, and our need for the feminine in our lives and in the world today.
The figure looking on but also separate, for me is about the shadow that we need to embrace and integrate. So three things, the jug, the face and the moon.

Looking For Yin
£642.00
I am fascinated by the inner world with its complicated terrain. I see the reflections of natural cycles and rhythms in our lives, the balance of yin and yang. I express my experience of being a woman in today's world, to explore those polarities in myself and in my art.
As a healer, which is how I have supported myself as an artist, I have been aware of the imbalance in our world today and our desperate need to heal on so many levels. I believe we are at a turning point now which feels terrifying as well as exciting and full of possibility. Hopefully we can find the necessary humility and recover the knowledge to create a future worth living for our children.
